about Kalanilayam
Kalanilayam Drama (now Kalanilayam Stage Craft) was founded by Shri Kalanilayam Krishnan Nair in 1963. Even after decades, we remain to be the largest theatre group in Asia with more than 200 artists, technicians and officials. Kalanilayam Drama's Vision is to remain the biggest and permanent drama theatre in Asia.
Raktharakshas is one of our most popular dramas with unique presentation. Now, we are presenting a new drama "Hidimbi".
The audience gets attracted with our unique and magical stage setting like rains, moon lights and lightings while they go awestruck with flying bed, running cars, landing of aeroplanes on stage. The huge proscenium sets and the dexterity with which the technicians change the sets end-screen are truly marvelous. The stage occupies an expansive area of about 5000 square feet and can accommodate more than 1000 people.

from Smt. Indira Gandhi
In 1965
V T Aravindaksha Menon, receiving The National Theatre Award of 1965, from the then Prime Minister of India Smt. Indira Gandhi. This was for his character from Kalanilayam's Drama "Kayamkulam Kochunni", in which he portrayed the character of Kayamkulam Kochunni.

Had a really good experience at Kalanilayam Dramas.. An experience which often a 3D movie or a regular drama can't give you.. Kalanilayam Dramas is one of the finest example when technology meets art.. Kadamutathe Kathanar was a visual treat.. it had a perfect story, songs, dance ,magic and other breath taking visuals and moments.. . And the best part is to see our childhood stories seen right infront of us. Would recommend to everyone in Thrissur to watch it .

I'm a big fan of Horror movies . I have enjoyed horror movies from my childhood. But this time i really have a very good experience. Kalanilayam created something incredible that I wasn’t expecting. Not only was the Drama was terrifying, but it was filled with so much heart and emotion. I loved the story that revolves around KADAMATHATHU KATHANAR. It’s really quite powerful. Another important thing i like in this drama is songs and the scenes .especially dance sequence .
